After a tree is removed, the next step is to decide whether or not you are going to have the stump removed. There are several factors that help decide whether or not to remove a stump with a grinder;
● Hand digging out a stump, even a seemingly small one, is much more difficult and labor/time intensive that it may seem. It is much more efficient to use a grinder because it can grind just the area right where the stump is rather than needing to excavate a large area. The grinder also mulches up the material, making it easy to either spread it around or haul away.
● Location; is it in an area where it will be in the way, a tripping hazard or an eye sore
● Are you wanting to plant another tree in the same area or sod over the area? If so we can grind a slightly larger area to ensure no large roots are in the way of planting. If you are going to be doing construction then we can coordinate chasing more roots as well so they are not left to the construction crew to have to hand dig out.
● Stumps can be tripping hazards in your yard and make mowing difficult.
● They allow insects and other pests a place to still burrow in and possibly affect other nearby trees.
What happens to the material?
When we grind the stump, we can either rake the material back into a pile for you to use as mulch (stump grindings are excellent mulch and are a great way to recycle the material back into the ecosystem) or we can fill the hole to ground level and haul away the extra.
We do stump removal the right way! We can grind down to 25” to ensure the entire mass of the stump is gone. We do not just grind below ground level and then cover it up, leaving you with all of the stump still in the ground. Make sure you are hiring the right company for your stump removal needs so you don’t have a surprise waiting for you and then need to do the work twice.
